Central Skagit Library District
Central Skagit Library District (CSLD) was created in 2012. It began operations at 802 Ball Street, the site of the current Sedro-Woolley Rec Center operated by Skagit Valley YMCA.
In 2017 the City of Sedro-Woolley entered into a partnership agreement with Central Skagit Library District to provide library services to the community and to construct a new library within the City. The new 12,000-square-foot Sedro-Woolley Library opened in 2021. The library’s open floor plan features natural light through large windows, high ceilings, and low shelving. Many sustainable features have been included in the design.
Local groups are also able to use the library’s Large Community Room and conference room for meetings and programs, creating deeper connections among residents. CSLD has an important presence throughout the community, from working with the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club to providing outreach at the area farmer’s market.
Mission
Our mission is to bring people, information, and ideas together to enrich, empower, and engage our community.
Patrons use the library to check out books and other materials, to use library computers and wifi, to print and fax items, to browse our local history collection, and to meet with other community members and groups in our meeting rooms. Library staff offer many programs, ranging from storytimes for babies and toddlers to anime and arts & crafts programs for teens and tweens, to Dungeons & Dragons and “Thirst for Knowledge” for adults.
Strategic Plan
In 2023, CSLD conducted demographic studies and community surveys to develop a comprehensive strategic plan. Residents believe that the library “is a vital community hub” and “surpasses the expectations of its users.” The 2024-2028 Strategic Plan has 5 overarching strategies:

- STRATEGY 3: Support access to services and resources with dignity
- STRATEGY 4: Facilitate civic and community engagement
